This little toy-app fully simulates 2D balls multi-collisions. The application implements the basic laws of motion as well as the laws of momentum and energy conservation. This makes collisions very realistic and visually compelling. Just a kinetic storm! There are several settings you can apply to alter the way balls collide. See screenshots, if you are interested.
THE STORY BEHIND
The idea of the application originates in mid '90s when we were busy with some screen saver projects implemented in the state-of-art Borland Delphi 1.0. Once iPad has been released we decided to dig up this ancient code and wrap it with Objective-C goodies and finally launch it. So, we ended up with a really interactive application comparing to a passive screen saver we have started with. The app now fully utilizes iPad's touchable screen and makes use of its accelerometer.
HOW TO PLAY?
The balls are truly interactive - you can capture, move and flick them with a fingertip. Double tap just to freeze their motion and pinch to change their size. You may also lift up, flip and gently rotate your iPad to experience the gravity effect. The balls do respond... Hint: lock screen rotation to get the best result.
But the point is just to WATCH THEM GO BY - we find it the most addictive and entertaining.
